Dang Qiu comes from a table tennis-loving family. His parents were table tennis players from Jiangsu, China, who immigrated to Germany in the 1990s.

Dang Qiu plays for the German national team. In 2017, he placed second in the singles competition at the European Under-21 Championships.

He won both the European mixed doubles and team titles in 2021. As far as we know, he is the first native German to play the penhold position for his country’s national team.

Qiu defeated Dimitrij Ovtcharov in seven games at the WTT Contender in Lima in June 2022.

As a result of the victory, he moved up to the No. 10 spot in the ITTF world rankings. Qiu won the European Table Tennis Championships Finals against Darko Jorgic 4-1 in August 2022.
